COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PASTA WITH VEGETABLES IN TOMATO SAUCE,
KOSHER AND HALAL, THERMOSTABILIZED
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
1. SCOPE
1.1 This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers thermostabilized, kosher certified and halal approved, pasta with vegetables in tomato sauce, packed in flexible pouches, suitable for use by the Federal Government and as a component of the Meal, Ready-to-Eat, Individual.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Processing. The product shall be prepared in accordance with good commercial practice.
2.2 Ingredients. All ingredients shall be certified as kosher and approved as halal by recognized rabbinical and Islamic/Muslim organizations/authorities as specified in the solicitation, contract, or purchase order. Proof of their kosher and halal status shall be made available upon request. The pasta with vegetables in tomato sauce shall include pasta (enriched), carrots, corn, cut green beans, peas, celery, sweet red peppers, diced tomatoes, sliced mushrooms, and onions, in a typical Italian tomato sauce.
