COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CHEESE TORTELLINI IN TOMATO SAUCE,
KOSHER AND HALAL, THERMOSTABILIZED
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
1. SCOPE
1.1 This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers thermostabilized, kosher certified and halal approved, cheese tortellini in tomato sauce, packed in flexible pouches, suitable for use by the Federal Government and as a component of the Meal, Ready-to-Eat, Individual.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Processing. The product shall be prepared in accordance with good commercial practice.
2.2 Ingredients. All ingredients shall be certified as kosher and approved as halal by recognized rabbinical and Islamic/Muslim organizations/authorities as specified in the solicitation, contract, or purchase order. Proof of their kosher and halal status shall be made available upon request. The cheese tortellini in tomato sauce shall include tortellini with cheese filling and tomato sauce.
2.2.1 Pasta. The pasta component (enriched) of the tortellini shall contain enriched wheat flour, water and whole eggs or egg white. The pasta shall be the type suitable for thermoprocessing.
