COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CHICKEN, NOODLES, AND VEGETABLES, IN SAUCE,
KOSHER AND HALAL, THERMOSTABILIZED
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
1. SCOPE
1.1 This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers thermostabilized, kosher certified and halal approved, chicken, noodles, and vegetables in sauce, packed in flexible pouches, suitable for use by the Federal Government and as a component of the Meal, Ready-to-Eat. Individual.
2. SAALIENT CHARACTERISCTICS
2.1 Processing. The product shall be prepared in accordance with good commercial practice.
2.2 Ingredients. All ingredients shall be certified as kosher and approved as halal by recognized rabbinical and Islamic/Muslim organizations/ authorities as specified in the solicitation, contract, or purchase order. Proof of their kosher and halal status shall be made upon request. The chicken, noodles and vegetables in sauce shall include chicken dices, egg noodles, a poultry sauce, and at least three of the following vegetables: carrots, peas, sliced mushrooms, red pepper dices, cut green beans, onions, and celery.
2.2.1 Noodles. The egg noodles (enriched) shall be fettuccine noodles heavy soup noodles. The length of the noodles shall be 1.5 ± 0.5 inches (38 ± 13 mm). The noodles shall be the type for thermoprocessing.
